Driving your future forward with a career at Oxalis Logistics
At Oxalis Logistics, our roles are more than just a job – they’re a career. We’ve made the progress of our people one of our biggest priorities. That’s not just a mission statement, but a reality evident across our Senior Leadership teams.
In 2025, many of our board members hold their positions as a direct result of our culture. One in which we progress, nurture and retain our own people ahead of recruiting external talent.
- 50% of our current board members have progressed through our Management Development Programme (MDP)
- Much of our Senior Leadership team first joined the business on our MDP and have worked for Oxalis Logistics for an average of 15 years
- 60% of our Group Senior Leadership team were appointed via promotion from a previous internal role
- 33% of our UK and Ireland Senior Leadership team were appointed via promotion from a previous internal role
- 12 of our current colleagues have graduated from our MDP

Why join Oxalis Logistics?
We know that to expect excellence in our people relies on equipping everyone with the right tools and training. Support and development are threaded throughout our people agenda to promote clarity, confidence and capability in every member of our workforce.
That development journey starts from day one with a meticulous analysis of every role in conjunction with the appointed person’s knowledge and skills. A process that enables us to tailor training and mentorship entirely to your personal career trajectory, so that during your first year in-role you will be entirely enabled to thrive.
We spent £12 million on employee benefits in 2024. Stretching beyond bonus opportunities and incentives, we want to ensure that our employee package truly does benefit you and your future.
A significant part of that ambition is our Employee Development Programme (EDP), a two-year program with an intake every 2-3 years, designed to support tailored career progression. Each participant selected for our internal EDP will:
- Undertake an apprenticeship of their choice, aligned to their aspirations (subject to provider requirements)
- Be assigned a senior mentor within our business
- Have the opportunity to shadow other departments/roles from across Oxalis Logistics
From our previous EDP cohort, 5 out of 8 employees (non-drivers) were promoted within 16 months of joining the programme, with a further 3 being promoted within 29 months. Beyond this, we also offer an internal mentorship programme enabling more junior colleagues to learn directly from those who are more experienced.
We are proud to have built a team of nearly 50 Driver Trainer Instructors (DTIs) responsible for delivering our in-house, industry-leading driver training. As well as providing hands-on day-to-day support which is intrinsic to positive driver well-being, our DTIs also deliver vital education across various phases of a driver’s career:
- Excellent new starter training, including Petroleum Driver Passport and ADR
- Annual refresher training on Dangerous Goods
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
- Our bespoke, in-house, tanker-specific defensive driver training initiatives course
- Ongoing equipment and technology familiarisation
- Fuel efficiency training
We know that the driver training provided by our DTIs will only ever be as good as the training we provide them with. That’s why we deliver robust and regular training with the DTIs themselves, including instating our very own residential DTI Development Training Camp.
Our DTIs also receive support and guidance throughout their tenure with us, including trainer-level courses in Mental Health Awareness 7, Manual Handling 7 and, externally accredited Train the Trainer programmes including a Driving Assessors course. We also cover an in-depth programme covering presentation skills, learning cycles and styles.

Creating leaders who do much more than manage
At Oxalis Logistics, we entrust and empower our line managers to lead, inspire and reward their teams. Within the first year in the role, every line manager will participate in:
- Mental Health Awareness training
- Leadership Coaching
- Bespoke Residential Leadership Development training
- Tailored training delivered by internal experts, encompassing all key line manager responsibilities across the colleague journey
Our line managers are also guided on how to recognise and reward talent. This training is put into practice during regular reviews, focused on identifying the specific support needed for individuals to progress. It works too – as many of our colleagues have been promoted directly because of this process.
Leaving University?
If you’ve recently graduated from university, you could be eligible to kickstart your career with our all-encompassing graduate scheme.
Our expertly designed Graduate Scheme is a two-year programme with an annual intake. Although supply/business-related degrees are preferred, they’re not essential as graduates can apply irrespective of their degree subject.
Our MDP Graduate Scheme consists of:
- A permanent contract with a continuing role afterwards
- An assigned senior mentor, often a member of our board
- Year one working at our Huddersfield head office with two rotations;
- Understanding logistics planning, scheduling, resourcing and controlling
- Understanding one of our specialist areas, such as Fleet, Compliance, or Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ)
- Year two working in the field with two rotations designed to teach our graduates about our driver operations and how to lead them
- Various projects, each with one of our senior leaders as a project sponsor, provide graduates with the opportunity to present their outputs to members of the Oxalis Logistics board
- A specific development calendar with 18 internal and external courses, including CPC, Incident Control, Establishing Leadership, Project and Change Management and Commercial Awareness, to ensure that by the end of the programme, our graduates are ready, capable and confident to undertake an Operations Transport Manager role or equivalent
